My ‘good’ morning ritual

After fasting all night, I think it is so important to start the day off right and rehydrate my body and get things flowing! So every morning without fail, I wake up and the first thing I do is stumble into my kitchen and make a cleansing glass of lemon water with a pinch of Himalayan salt. I then proceed to make a shot of diluted apple cider vinegar combined with a large tablespoon of super-greens powder. I personally like a mix of wheatgrass, spirulina and chlorella but it really depends on what I have in my pantry as I go through phases with brands and products!IMG_0700

So why do I bother?

Lemons are high in vitamin C which helps support the immune system, they contain high levels of potassium, calcium and pectin fibre which aids in digestion and flushing out any nasty toxins. Despite the acidic taste, it has an alkaline effect metabolically. When your body is in an alkaline state you are less likely to suffer from inflammation and chronic disease. At night our bodies dehydrate and our PH levels drop, so it is important to get more alkaline again first thing to help kick start the day with lots of energy!

Salt has a really bad reputation however Himalayan Salt has many benefits as it is a natural forming salt from the Himalayan mountain range which is said to contain the same 84 minerals found in the body. It also contains less sodium intake and is absorbed differently in the body than table salt.

Apple Cider Vinegar can help balance your body and detoxify your liver! It helps your body get rid of any mucus in the lymphatic system (made up of tissues and organs that help rid the body of waste, toxins and any unwanted materials). Apple cider vinegar can also help with heart burn and give your body a natural boost of energy. Make sure to buy a raw unfiltered good quality brand, my preferred is Braggs – pictured!

So create a new habit and start drinking lemon water to support your health – Try also to get a daily dose of apple cider vinegar and some super greens won’t do you any harm either!
